Sexy West Coast Stallions

Flexible

BARN NAME: Flexi

YEAR OF BIRTH: 1996

BREED: Irish Sport Horse

SIRE: Cruising

DAM: Flex

BIRTH PLACE: Ireland

OWNER: Harry and Mollie Chapman

BREEDING AVAILABILITY: Frozen semen only

PURCHASED
Flexi was purchased in 2002 as an unproven six year old strictly as a competition horse. Rider Rich Fellers had good luck with the breed and was happy to give Flexible a chance to prove himself.

MOST MEMORABLE SHOW RING MOMENT
In 2012, Flexi and Fellers were the first U.S. combination to win the FEI World Cup Final since 1987. Then the pair won six grand prix classes, including Olympic Qualifiers, before finishing 8th individually at the London Olympic Games.

BEST ASPECT OF THE HORSE
A testament to Flexi’s desire and heart, one only has to look at his recent performance at Spruce Meadows in the Pan American Cup. The pair went into the jump off, ready to win. Landing off the first fence, Fellers made a sharp turn to the left and Flexi pulled his front left shoe. Fellers didn’t know, as this did not deter
the stallion in the slightest as he continued. Losing precious milliseconds, the ride didn’t go quite to plan, including an unfortunate slip and rail at the last fence. Even with three shoes, they finished 6th in the class.

OFFSPRING
Flexible has sired numerous foals, as his semen has been collected for many years. And at 19 he is not slowing down. His oldest is Cushions, a 2006 mare bred by Edward Doyle. She was at the top of the lea- derboard of the TRM/Horseware National Grand Prix League with wins at the legs at Cork and Charleville.

Jonkheer Z

BARN NAME: Johnny

YEAR OF BIRTH: 2002

BREED: Zangersheide

SIRE: JetSet-D

DAM: Ulderina Van Westleven

BIRTH PLACE: Belgium

OWNER: Signe Ostby

BREEDING AVAILABILITY
Frozen semen only

PURCHASED
Owner Signe Ostby purchased Johnny for rider Karl Cook in 2011. He was jumping 1.45–1.50 meters in Europe and Cook was looking for a mount that could take him to the top levels of show jumping.

MOST MEMORABLE SHOW RING MOMENT
Cook and Johnny won the National Sunshine Tour World Cup Qualifier Grand Prix in 2014 against tough competition. Having already competed in two FEI World Cup qualifiers – Las Vegas and the Sunshine Tour, they are looking to qualify in a third one in 2015.

BEST ASPECT OF THE HORSE
Johnny makes all the jumps seem small. When he and Cook are in sync, Cook says it feels like a chil- dren’s or adult’s class. But the bigger the crowd, the better the stallion shines. He responds to the energy and rises to the occasion. But best of all, he taught Cook the ropes at upper level show jumping.

OFFSPRING
Ten offspring have been born with Johnny as a sire so far. But he is one of Cook’s most fertile stallions. His oldest is Kasha who was born in 2010.
